COMPLIANT QUICK RELEASE
SAFETY TETHER WITH STRESS INDICATOR
Model # 7007
Our new safety
tether features a quick release snap shackle, a double action hook and a
built-in stress indicator. All our tethers are built with heavy duty
tubular nylon webbing plus they are all bar tack stitched for ultimate
strength and safety. The elastic retractable system allows the tether
to retract from 2 meters to 1 meter in length.
The 7007
safety tether features our 316L SS (non-magnetic)
fixed bail snap shackle for the harness end attachment and our patented
double action hook for the boat end attachment.
Break Load is 4580lbs. Total length-6-6 3/4'
Built
-in stress indicator for ORC compliance
The ORC rule
for tethers is found in their SPECIAL REGULATIONS, paragraph 5.02. The
rule for the stress indicator reads: "A safety line purchased in 1/2000 or
later shall have a colored flag embedded in the stitching to indicate an
overload. A line which has been overloaded shall be replaced as a
matter of urgency."
Our solution
to this requirement is to stitch through an overlap or doubling of our
webbing and then to cover the stitching with shrink tubing for protection.
When the tether is overloaded, the stitching in the overlap will part
letting the wearer know he or she has overstressed the tether and should be
replaced.
Wichard
tethers are manufactured to European Norm (EN1095) which requires that the
tether successfully complete a drop test of two meters (6-63/4') distance
while carrying a load of 100kg (220lbs.) with out failing or opening the
tether's load indicator.

JACKLINES
to be made from webbing or uncoated stainless steel wire of

Clipping
Points-
Strong
anchorage points adjacent to stations such as the helm, sheet winches, and masts, where
crewmembers work for long periods. Together with jacklines and static safety lines shall
enable a crewmember to clip on before coming on deck, unclip after going below and be able
to move about the boat with minimum of clipping and unclipping.
Required for categories
0 1 2 3
Stoppers-
On Category 0 and FICO events requires that jacklines be equipped at
each of their ends with a stopper aimed at blocking the loop of the safety harness if the
anchorage of the jackline breaks.
Re-Board System
On category 0 and FICO events, A system allowing the
crewmember who has fallen overboard to climb back on
board without assistance must be in place, including when the boat is up
turned.
Warning:
U-bolts or eyebolts of small diameter can cause carabiners and snaphooks
to "rollout" or "capsive" when rotated on one leg of the u-bolt so
that the gate bears against the other leg. For this reason the use of plain snaphooks is
not recommended.
FICO stands for the Forum International
de la Course Oceanique. This organization in conjunction with the ORC, sets additional
safety standards for races such as the Vendee Globe and Quebec-San Malo where additional
steps need to be taken to assure safety at sea.
Please
check Special Regulations for Offshore Sailing @ www.orc.org for all rules
and prescriptions.

Pre-made Jacklines
Our jacklines are made from Mil Spec type 18 flat webbing with a
breaking strength of 6000 lbs. The jacklines are available in three lengths 35',
45', 55' and can be purchased with our 2326 carbine hook stitched on or with plain looped
ends. We also offer a double jackline that is continuous webbing to travel down each
side of the boat using one centerline attachment point featuring a stitched on 2326 snap
hook.

Double Jackline
#SP2326D
Wichard deck safety system is the most complete
system on the market today. We have study and tested our products to produce what we
believe is the safest product available. Tethers,
jacklines, safety stoppers and a way
back on board the boat is now available from Wichard-usa. |
Jackline Safety Stopper: (Not Available)
We have developed a molded nylon stopper that bolts onto 1"
webbing or 3/16" stainless steel wire jacklines. The stopper prevents the
safety tether and wearer from sliding aft and over the transom. This keeps the
man-overboard closer to the boat and makes the task of reboarding much easier.
- Jacklines used with a stopper on each end will be ORC and FICA
compliant for category 0* races.
*Category 0: "Trans-Ocean races where yachts must be
self-sufficient for extended periods of time, capable of withstanding heavy storms and
prepared to meet serious emergencies without the expectation of outside assistance"
from US Sailing Recommendations for Offshore sailing.

EMERGENCY BOARDING LADDER
Our
emergency boarding ladder
based on an "etrier(a-tree-ar) used
in rock climbing as an aid for climbing
sheer faces. The ladder is made from doubled layered nylon webbing
stitched to
withstand 6000 lb loads. Designed to be attached to a life line stanchion, pad eye
or cleat, its glow in the dark loop hangs
over the side ready to be grabbed or deployed in seconds.
Unlike a rope
ladder,
the Etrier will not collaspe when stepped on because
the steps hang from a
center strap.
The rungs are double
layered to keep them
open and easy to step
into. A forged shackle secures the ladder to an attachment point.
The
Emergency Boarding Ladder
is packed into a 1000 denier cordura
bag ready to be mounted. We
recommend that you use two ladders
one for each side.
